A Very Different Jim

The Irish people who choose to live and grow old in their homeland more loyal to Ireland than me
Content to grow old with their friends and family
Though some of them have lived for a few years in big cities elsewhere
They had no wish for to grow old in the big World out there
Old Jim who drinks in the local pub often sings an Irish song
The love he feels in his old age for his homeland feels strong
But if you ask him when he is sober do you miss Irealnd Jim
In his answer the sense of nostalgia missing that the alcohol brings out in him
He says yes i do often think of where i first saw light of day
But had i loved Ireland all that much there i would surely stay
It was his love of adventure that brought him to age far south
Of the old fields of the badger and waterways of the brown trout
The Jim you meet when sober a very different Jim
Than the man the alcohol does bring to life the nostalgia in him.
