Time wearies the best of them as they do say
The old sheepdog trialers have known of a better day
Ageing men and women who with their dogs travel far and wide
To sheepdog trials in towns in the big countryside

With their border collies and some kelpies as well
Of their past successes and failures in trialing they have many stories to tell
They drive with their dogs to all States in Australia at trials to compete
And always great banter when old trialers do meet

All old sheepdog trialers to each other well known
One can say of them they have ways of their own
Of how to train for work and trial dogs so much they do know
Such knowledge on bushes and trees does not grow

Some of them in and near their eighties many years past their prime
They have been trialing sheepdogs for quite a long time
Of working dogs and their ways they know so much about
That they are good at training dogs for trialing does go without doubt.
