In July In Ballydaly

Above the old fields high in the sky
The dark barn swallows chasing flying insects fly
On an afternoon warm and breezy and dry
In the prime of the Summer in balmy July

In a pleasant weather temperature high of twenty three degrees
The contented cattle lay chewing their cuds in the shade of the trees
And in a grove nearby a bird whose voice one could never get wrong
The cuckooo who got his name from the sound of his song

July in Ballydaly is a nice time of year
In the leafy hedgerows chirping young birds one does hear
And the sweet scent of freshly mowed grass for silage or hay
From Ballydaly in July Eathly Utopia is not far away

In the old fields white butterflies seemingly dancing above the wildflowers
That have come to bloom after recent mild Summer showers
In the sunny mostly blue sky just a few clouds of gray
In July in Ballydaly on a nice Summer's day
