The Thief Of Joy

An old truism that i learned from wise elders as a boy

That comparisons are often the thief of joy

Those who are sensitive in the erosion of their self confidence pay

When being compared unfavourably to others in truth one can say

That words can be hurtful remain ever true

And those who compare sensitive people unfavourably with others good karma is not their due

By a few hurtful words dreams can be destroyed

That words can be mentally wounding cannot be denied

That everybody need some positive recognition is a truism indeed

And sensitive people of positive recognition more so than others are of in need

Those who compare people to some others in an unfavourable way

The game of erosion of self confidence does play

It is something i learned of as a young boy

That comparison of people is the thief of joy.
