It is not your higher self at all that at such times that is speaking
But something to the higher self that is not a relation
It is the ego in your mind just craving admiration
Your higher self far less humble than this of self does seldom mention
When you tell others of your success it is your ego seeking attention
In most people the ego controls the higher self in this you are not an exception
Self promotion as is well known does not have it's source in self reflection
The ego when out of control is a narcissistic creature
It only makes you think of self and self your only feature
It convinces you of how marvellous you are and that yourself only matter
And when others praise you it glows a bit and grows a bit fatter
Your higher self attention for the self does never seek and only sees the good in others
And treats all other people as kindred sisters and brothers
It has you helping others as one who is kind and caring
Whilst the ego is much different and does not believe in sharing.
