Trying to outboast each other their tongues wagging away
Of their latest achievements and success of the day
With just one amongst them with nothing to say
The silent one did not partake in adding to the din
He just sat there in silence taking in
The competitive bragging to him boring to hear
That he was not impressed with their waffling by his body language seemed clear
Not his sort of party he seemed out of place
And of any emotion he did not show a trace
For to join in the babble he did not have the will
As is said of quiet waters they are deep and still
Of any party his sort not the life
But since the host of the evening is a good friend of his wife
To be a rude person he is one not known
And he came with his wife since she would not come on her own
The silent one where the babble was loud
Not the one to add to the volume of the crowd
Silence is golden as a truism remain
The meaning in this it's own self does explain.
