On Magpie Larks

Medium sized black and white birds in Australia familiar to many and seen every day
Pee wee pee wee is all they have to say
Known as magpie larks or mudlarks many call them pee wee
They build a cup shaped nest of mud high on fork of  branch of tree
Where two to four pink dotted eggs the female bird lay
That can be seen from the ground not well hidden away
They live on insects they find on the ground
Their heads ever bobbing as they walk around
The female and male combine to defend territory
They raise their wings as they call out pee wee
This is a territorial thing with them maybe
Though many with such thinking would disagree
Distinct from all others with ways of their own
All over Australia they are quite well known.
