The gray roos at Tower Hill one seldom sees out by day
At twilight from their hiding spots they venture out
For to graze on the long grass and go on hop about
Going back just over two centuries in real time not that long
The gray roos were hunted for food by the local indigenous tribe known as the Peek Wurrong
Who became the dispossessed of their homeplace
At the arrival of Europe's fair skinned race
Sadly the Peek Wurrong not now in Tower Hill though the descendants of the roos they hunted live there today
That time only brings partial change seems true for to say
Close to the Pacific in the coastal Moyne Shire countryside
The volcanic valley of Tower Hill has it's secrets to hide
Today in Tower Hill no sound of a didgeridoo
But no shortage as well of gray kangaroo.
