The day it is warm over thirty degrees
And a certain warmth in the coastal breeze
Blowing from the Pacific some five kilometres away
In Illowa on this summery January day
Flying above the sunlit paddocks countless white butterflies
Many of them have lived their last sunrise
As butterflies they live a few days and die
As all life forms of Nature just like you and i
With the sun on their dark wings chirping as they fly
Welcome swallows are chasing flying insects in the sky
The warm air full of the buzzing of bush flies and bees
And young birds are chirping on the bushes and trees
A weather forecast of a temperature high of thirty three
On a warm afternoon in January.
