With You A Big Thing

Like many others self promotion with you a big thing

But you should leave it to others your praises to sing

Self praise is no praise as the wise one did say

Wisdom from the past that is relevant today

It is true you are quite good at what you do

But remember there are some at this who are better than you

Though you may be the best at what you do on your side of the town

This only gives you a claim to local renown

You have convinced some of your friends in the local public bar

Of how marvellous a person that you really are

And though self promotion may build up for you some public esteem

This does only get anyone so far it does seem

To say you are the best on your behalf a big call

Self praise it does not prove your true worth at all.
