On Birds

Some Of them by their appearance and songs are known

But all species of birds do have ways of their own

Even similar species from each other behave differently

So much to know about birds as most who know of them would agree

Some birds one does know by their appearance and song

And once seen and once heard one never again get them wrong

But these are species one does see every day

And are common and well known in truth one can say

But rarer birds not often seen and of humans quite shy

Even for experienced bird watchers harder to identify

Every day about birds even the knowledgeable on their ways few

Will tell you of them they do learn something new

Birds are beautiful creatures and it goes without doubt

That of them and their ways so much to learn about

And the more we learn about them the more we come to realize

That of them we know little this not a surprise.
