On The Death Of Augie

Sad news out of Olinda from the high wooded countryside

And in the age of modern technology such news travels far and wide

Augie an adopted family member of the Ladds family on the busy Olinda-Monbulk roadway died

That death with it brings great grief cannot be denied

At least to young Augie a black and tan Australian terrier death did come fast

But for Django and Ginger and their parents Damian and Vanessa their grief for a while will last

Though it is true that the healer of grief can be tears

Fond memories of Augie will be with them for years

Such a tragic way for their dog's life to come to an end

The Ladds family in their dog had a loyal and loving friend

Dogs are such faithful friends their feelings they cannot disguise

One could see the love in Augie in his loving brown eyes

At the tragic death of their family pet at a young age the Ladds family will grieve

But that time is the healer of grief is not hard to believe

Of dogs happy and sad stories are told

And some dogs like some humans are not destined to grow old

For Augie who loved his human family at a young age a tragic end

Than your dog you do not have a truer friend

In January in Olinda in a warm Summer's day

The Ladds lost a beloved family member on the busy roadway.
