A fox it is barking somewhere nearby
A creature that is seldom seen out by day
The reason for it's barking i do not know for to say
Perhaps it may be calling out for a mate
For foxes in this countryside are rare of late
Poisoning and trapping and shooting on them taking toll
Farmers and fowl owners classify foxes as living vermin to be kept under control
Foxes kill small domestic creatures and small wildlife as prey
They mostly hunt by night and sometimes by day
Sheep farmers and free range fowl owners only wish on them ill
Since their fowl and lambs they regularly kill
An animal seldom seen out in the daylight
A fox it is barking in the still of the night.
