On Bird Brain

Bird  brain of a not so clever person that is used every day

By judgmental people put down words among the many that disrespect is meant to pay

Though birds are quite clever despite what some of them does say

Some of them as clever as humans in their own sort of a way

I have seen little ravens at Warrnambool Botanical Gardens dipping  hard bread to soften to eat at the verge of the lake

One can say this action some thought does take

Of any help for their survival from humans little ravens are not in need

Some birds are clever yes quite clever indeed

In the nest some birds build they are gifted as well as rather smart

One can say they are unsung teachers of  natural art

Of Nature's creatures every day we do learn something new

And one can say their lessons to us are not of the few

The intelligence of birds never cease to surprise

This is something of them i have come to realize

Those who tell you that their education ended on their last day in school

Are not open to learning and themselves only fool

Though as an expression of praise by the one who utters it it is surely not meant

To be called a bird brain i take as a compliment

Since birds they are clever with ways of their own

And so much about them remains as unknown.
