On Grey Fantails

Small birds one sees often though not every day
With white under throat and mostly light grey
In cup shaped nest of grass bound with spiders webs on low fork of tree
The female lay one to four brown dotted grey eggs from the ground not hard to see
With their long grey tails fanned out and wagging as they fly around
As they pursue flying insects quite close to the ground
Always on the move though they seem almost tame
Grey fantails for them does seem an apt name
Of humans they do not seem to have much fear
Before flying off they allow you to them to come near
At breeding time they does treat none as a friend
And with aggression their nests they defend
These endearing small birds restless and energetic for their size
That i have grown to love them i have come to realize.
