The Willie Wagtail's Nest

In neat small cup shaped nest of spiders webs that binds together bits of hay
And lined with animal hair the female bird lay
Two or three brown dotted grey eggs on low fork of tree
That from the ground is not hard to see
Willie wagtails black and white flycatchers with ways of their own
Little birds that to many are well loved and well known
Often wagging their long dark tails hence their often used name
In back yards and gardens they seem almost tame
At nesting time none they do treat as a friend
With bravery against much bigger birds their nests and young they defend
Quite adorable little creatures of them one can say
That people of town and countryside see every day
Always challenging bigger birds in their territory
One does have to admire them for their bravery.
