A stranger to many even on his side of the town
On streets every day he does walk up and down
Not a local celebrity but well known elsewhere
As a talented artist in the big World out there
Not a member of any local community or sporting club
And he is never seen at the local pub
With the town tribes enjoying a beer
And feeling a part of the banter and cheer
In the old country town where artists are few
And this is not saying anything that is new
Those most admired good at cricket and football
Framed photos of them on the local pub wall
Where many see art as an upper class thing
The praises of artists few bother to sing.
