Known as magpie lark or mudlark some call them pee wee
They build cup shaped nest of mud high on fork of branch of tree
Three to five pale brown dotted eggs the female bird does lay
They are birds most Australians hear and see every day
Black and white medium sized birds it is worthy of note
That the male can be distinguished from the female by the dark feathers under his throat
They live on insects that they find on the ground
With their heads ever bobbing as they walk around
Birds distinct from others as distinct can be
Sometimes they raise their wings and call out pee wee
Not that wary of humans in pairs or small family groups they like to stay
Quite familiar Australians of them one can say
They live in country paddocks and gardens and city and town park
These birds known as mudlark, pee wee or magpie lark.
