The old brown kelpie Joe his muzzle is grey
He is one who has known of a far better day
Farmer Bill has retired him from working his sheep
Every day in his kennel for hours he does sleep
A great working dog when in his life's prime
Though this is going back many Seasons in time
On his twelfth year of life his better days long gone
And the clock on his existence does keep ticking on
Farmer Bill to work his sheep has Joe's daughter and son
And as far as the old dog his working days with done
Stretched in his kennel he dreams of the past
When he could work sheep all day and he could run fast
A great working dog when in his life's prime
Though this is going back many Seasons in time.
