Sad news out of Duhallow online from Newmarket for to read of today
John O' Keeffe a legend of Millstreet Town from life has passed away
In his physical prime years a handsome fellow athletic and tall
In nineteen forty nine he captained the Cork senior team in Gaelic Football
For Cork and for Millstreet great games of Gaelic Football he did play
And in Millstreet Town for many years he and his late wonderful wife Lena in good example led the way
As role models in the Millstreet Tidy Town committee by good example they did lead
The story when published of their life together will make for a good read
In St Mary's cemetery he will join his beloved Lena in her last resting spot
Together in life they achieved quite a lot
And though the last breath of life from them may have gone
Good memories of the people they were over time will live on
Of how in their lives they planted Karma's good seed
Of people like they were humanity of more is in need
They helped for to make the World better to live in
There is truth in the saying the power to do good comes from within
Those who knew and knew of him good memories of him will recall
There was more to John O' Keeffe than being good at Gaelic Football
One well worthy of the title of the true gentleman
He helped so many people over his long life span.
