He is of the place where the Blackwater flow
Home to rook and badger and silver backed crow
In the damp and flat fields where the rushes do grow
On towards the great ocean it winds it's way slow
Many here his accent struggle to understand
As they do with most migrants of a distant Land
Two years in this Country is not a long time
For one who is close to his physical prime
He has fallen in love with a beautiful young woman who has agreed to become his wife
And it looks like he is in this Country for life
From his far northern homeplace of the waterways of the brown trout
He will make a new home for himself in this place of the far south
In this place of echidna, koala, emu, corella and yellow tailed black cockatoo
And black swamp wallaby and grey kangaroo
The nostalgia in him is fading by the day
For the place he was raised in from here far away.
