The hard work you do it is not matched by pay
At work for you it has been another quite stressful day
You would quit your job but job vacancies are few
And that being unemployed is worse than working for low wages is not saying anything that is new
With a wife and two young daughters to support financially you are doing it tough
And your weekly take home pay only barely enough
To pay off your bills in life for you no cheer
After work you cannot afford to call to the pub for a stress breaking beer
Last week when you asked your boss for a pay rise
His answer to your request did not come to you as a surprise
He said i have people applying for a job start every day
And if you are not happy with your wages here you do not have to stay
You must keep working hard for low wages to support your children and wife
As one of the town's working poor for you no joy in life.
