A beautiful place Ballydaly in May
The songbirds are singing in the dawning grey
On young grass far more nutritious than silage or hay
The contented cattle they are gaining weight by the day
Brought into bloom by recent Spring showers
The green fields of Ballydaly resplendent in their Nature flowers
With the sun on their dark wings chirping as they fly
The barn swallows are chasing flying insects in the sky
May in Ballydaly is a nice time of year
The voice of the cuckoo so pleasant to hear
The hawthorns cloaked in white blossoms an amazing sight
The beauty in Nature a source for delight
Such beauty to inspire the writers of song, story and rhyme
In May by the Boggeraghs with Spring in her prime
The male chaffinches singing on leaf laden trees
The sound of their music carrying in the breeze
In Ballydaly in May many shades of green
Such natural beauty for to be seen
The warmer days of Summer with each passing day near
And the songs of the nesting birds so pleasant to hear.
