I will never be famous says old Phil the Poet
Or looked on as one worthy of literary note
Just one of the rhymers of my side of the town
Without any pretentions to literary renown
But on Saturday night with his mates of the football club
He recites some of his poems at the local pub
And always for him there is a loud encore
And they always plead to him to recite some more
He may not be one the literary World celebrate
But his fans at the pub think that he is great
Phil with their praises does not get carried away
He does not have a big ego in truth of him one can say
A likeable fellow his hair silver gray
The most popular poet in the town today.
