Light blue on head and neck and and red band across the face
They follow the flowering gums from place to place
Black and red on hooked bill, dark green unders with some yellow as well
Apart from other lorikeets not that hard to tell
Long green tail with pinkish feet and dark yellow eyes
Not often seen but more plentiful than many seem to realize
Whilst taking nectar from eucalypt blossoms they do not seem shy
And do not take any notice of humans watching nearby
Quite vocal when feeding they chirp ceaselessly
Nomadic in their ways without a territory
Two white eggs high in cavity of old tree the female bird lay
Musk lorikeet are interesting birds one of them can say
Among the fastest fliers of the parrot family
Though not rare they are birds one does not often see.
