Few things in life ever does seem to last
He only has memories of his loves of the past
That is all that he has over time that survives
Of the young women he loved who became other mens wives
The woman he married with him did not stay
A grandad in his sixties he is single today
Any of the women he loved in the past he has not seen for years
They too are victims of time and have become ageing dears
Of physically better years of in life he has known
Twelve times a grandfather he lives on his own
His ex wife has remarried and single he remain
He may never more have a partner or remarry again
And nowadays only the memories in him does last
Of the young women he loved in the past.
