Rhymers like all people run out of time
But it is true that rhymers only run out of rhyme
When death is upon them on their life's final day
Until then with rhyming words they just love for to play
Twenty first century literary critics dismiss every rhymer as a non poet
As scribblers quite unworthy of any literary note
Of the praises of blank verse poets they only sing
In twenty first century poetry rhyme is not an in thing
It does seem that time has become the foe
Of what used to be popular in the long ago
Rhymers are out of favour with the literary critics of today
That time with it brings changes only true to say
Though nowadays no shortage of rhymers in any village or city or town
They have become strangers to literary renown.
