They are so distinctive in their corvid way
In southern town parks and paddocks heard and seen every day
Far from good songsters of them one can say
But as Nature's survivors they do quite okay
That they are quite clever birds one does have to agree
Intelligent like most corvid are they seem to be
At shallow edge of lake to soften to eat i have seen them dip hard bread
Of most other birds in thinking they are far ahead
Glossy black birds with greenish palish eyes
Stories of their intelligence to wonder does give rise
In flat nest of sticks high on fork of branch of tree
The female lay green brown dotted eggs of six, five, four or three
As members of the corvid family
They are birds one does often hear and see.
