By Old Finnow In May

In fancy i can hear a silver back crow
Cawing on a beech tree near where Finnow waters flow
In a field near Millstreet Town on an evening in May
Just after sundown in the fading light of day
The pipe of the curlew so pleasant to hear
In May by the Finnow a nice time of year
And as the shades of night does darken the sky
The male snipe above the bogland does fly
And with his wings and tail makes a quick drumming sound
As above his breeding territory he flies around and around
Though time on our lives keeps on ticking away
Such beautiful memories a lifetime does stay
In the calm before dark the soft lowing of a cow
To her calf in a field by old River Finnow.
