By The Hills Far Away

The sweet scent of freshly mowed grass for silage or hay
Wafting in the breeze of a pleasant June day
A weather temperature high of a sunny twenty three degrees
And the birds chirp and sing on the bushes and trees

White butterflies flitting above the fields their beauty on display
And contented cattle on the lush grass chewing their cuds do lay
Such beauty that artists and writers inspire
Of singing Nature's praises it does seem hard to tire

In the sunlit shallow pools of the meandering stream
The basking brown trout in the sunshine their pink spotted skins gleam
The beauty in Nature one does not pay to see
It is true that the best things in life they are free

Brought to full bloom by recent Summer showers
The fields look resplendent in their Nature's flowers
Nature at her finest in June to be seen
The counntryside looking so scenic and green

With the sun on their dark wings chirping as they fly
The swallows chasing flying insects in the sky
In the afternoon of a sunny June day
In the green countryside by the hills far away.
