Happy Dave is smiling though for him not a good day
In the factory he has worked in he has drawn his final pay
The company gone into liquidation no longer allowed to trade
But any disappointment about this by Dave is not displayed
With a wife and two young daughters to support of a good weekly income he is in need
But despite now being unemployed he seems not the least bit worried indeed
If he feels disappointed of it he does not show a trace
He always does seem happy a big smile on his face
All of his retrenched workmates today are looking sad
The closure of the factory has hit their feelings bad
Dave the only one of them who manages a smile
He says things will get better though tough times may last for a while
Happy Dave is smiling though better days he has had
He is one of those rare people who refuses to look sad.
