In June on a Winter night in the wind and the rain
The tiny frogs in the backyard are singing again
In their breeding Season before and during rain them one does often hear
That they do like wet weather is quite obviously clear
By day even when singing they are hard to see
Amphibious ventriloquists is what they seem to be
You search where you think the frog is but it is not there
And you feel confused to realize that the singer is elsewhere
They hide in roof guttering or under loose bark of a tree
Most species of Australian frogs in general are of an elusive family
Their ventriloquism perhaps is an anti predator thing
The frog is not where you think it does sing
Perhaps their love of wet weather goes some way to explain
Why the tiny frogs always sing in the rain.
