An Ex Prisoner Of War

An ex prisoner of war bad things to him by his jailers were done
But for this he does not hate or blame anyone
He says time is not on my side i just live for to live
Though the past i cannot forget my abusers i forgive

In his late eighties by ten years he has outlived his wife
He says of her she was the great love of my life
Many times a great grand-dad he now lives on his own
He mostly keeps to himself and to few he is known

For to live as a better person me he does inspire
There is so much about him for one to admire
He has been physically abused but he does not harbour a grudge
And those who sinned against him he refuses to judge

Though things in his life he would rather forget
He does not harbour grudges or live with regret
A true hero who does not see himself in that way
Not many of his sort in the World of  today

As a prisoner of war one who suffered abuse
But he says for harbouring a grudge this would not be an excuse
Though the past he cannot forget his jailers he did forgive
This noble old fellow who just lives for to live.
