Though when physically compared to kangaroos in size they do lack
And unlike kangaroos in large numbers they never abound
Though happy on dry land as their name suggest they feel at home on swampy ground
Some people call them stinker since they emit a strong smell
And their meat when cooked is not nice to eat which does serve them well
For their survival as a species since they are not hunted for their meat
Most other life forms are hunted by hunters to kill for to eat
Swamp wallabies are not popular with gardeners since they raid their gardens at night
As some green vegetables to their taste buds are a sense of delight
With ways of their own most of them of humans are shy
And though they are quite beautiful creatures one must wonder why
They are not among Australia's favourite marsupials many others better loved and known
Yet they are endearing creatures with ways of their own.
