But the rhymer in death only run out of rhyme
Though in literature as in all things changes happen fast
And literary critics dismiss rhyme as a thing of the past
Yet no shortage of rhymers in the World of today
Though rhyme is not poetry the literary modernists say
But true rhymers write for love of rhyme only not for fame or pay
And true to their literary calling they do stay
There are rhymers in every village and city and town
Who write rhymes for love only not for fame or renown
Though millions of rhymers there are only a few
Who earn a living from writing of rhymes this is not saying what is new
The glory days of rhyming verse may be in the long gone
But the twenty first century rhymers do keep on rhyming on.
