They Lie Rather Well

They know how to win votes and retain political power

But few of them could tell you a weed from a flower

And few of them could tell you a crow from a currawong

In politics a naturalist could not hope to belong

Most of them know how to bend the truth and on how to lie

There are few politicians who do not have in them a strong sense of the i

In parliament they taunt their opposing members seeking political gain

To be honest as a politician one could not remain

Most politicians are not known for their empathy

For those doing it really tough in life they feel no sympathy

That most homeless people are non voters of they have taken note

So they do not have to spend money on them for to buy their vote

To an honest question from a politician you will not get an honest reply

That they are quite deceitful seems hard to deny

There is no place in politics for the honest and just

Since politicians are people who cannot be taken on trust

Bigger fool you if the words of a politician you do believe

Since most of them are quite expert at knowing how to deceive

Though most of them could not tell you a weed from a flower

They lie rather well for to hang on to power.
