A migrant in this place by the southern sea
Is all that i ever can hope for to be
Far north as the migratory bird flies daylight i first see
And having said this the true Australian is far darker than me
Many fair skinned people are Australian born in case you get me wrong
And though Australian born their genetic links to Australia are not as strong
As Australia's first people whose ancestors have lived in Australia for thousands of centuries
The true history of Australia is a black history
In the place i came from to many i would be a stranger today
Though we are who we think we are many does say
Many feel truly Australian though born in a far Country
It is each to their own thinking one has to agree
I can understand when you are not Australian some to me does say
Since the accent i speak in comes from far away.
