An Old Saying

An old saying that remains relevant would you not agree
What we dislike in others in our own selves we see
As it reminds us of ouir darker side from others hidden away
That others can become our reflective mirrors only true for to say
What you like in others is what you like in you
Since what you like in yourself in them you see too
What we like and dislike in ourselves we see in others every day
That others are our reflective mirrors it does seem this way
Of what we dislike in ourselves from others we try to hide
But in our body language they can see our darker side
It does seem way beyond one like me to explain
That what we like and dislike in others is in ourselves as a truism remain
What you like and dislike in others is what you like and dislike in you
Old wisdom from the past that remains ever true.
