Since i left Claraghatlea close to Millstreet Town
The roadways of life i have been up and down
A bit of the World out there i have seen
Though many to far more Lands than i have been to have been
Far south of the fields in view of Clara's Hill
Like it does for everyone time for me does not stand still
Our biological clocks ever ticking away
Each dawn brings us closer to our final day
That we learn as we live happens for to be true
A wise person first said this for to give them their due
Life's lessons for us are not of the few
And every day to learn for us something new
Far south of where i went to primary school
In coastal Illowa not that far from Warrnambool
A bird whose kind i often do hear and do see
A magpie is warbling on a sunlit gum tree
Where the journey in life for me began
Today to many there i would be an ageing foreign man
And in Illowa where time leaves it's mark on me
A migrant is all that i can wish to be.
