It Does Not Matter To The Dead

Eventually the materially wealthy and famous reach their last night and day
And a marble headstone with their image on it may mark the spot where they lay
But they will not be any better than the poor who have died without any headstone to mark their final resting spot
As it does not matter to the dead if they are remembered or forgot
Our ego with us it too dies in the grave
And it does not matter if you will die as a traitor or if you die brave
And it does not matter if you are one of great wealth and fame
The Reaper of lives treats everyone as the same
Between us there is inequality why otherwise pretend
But death makes us all equal in the end
And whether you are buried or cremated it will not matter to you any way
Though death brings with it equality despite what some might say
And to the dead it does not matter if they are remembered or not
And if there is or is not a headstone to mark their resting spot.
