Known as magpie larks or mudlarks though many call them peewee
Due to their song which sounds like peewee which they repeat regularly
Familiar to most people as they are seen and heard every day
And near where humans live they seem happy to stay
Dainty black and white birds a bit larger than a blackbird with ways of their own
Of the birds of Australia among the better known
In a cup shaped nest of mud high on branch of tree
The female lay white pink spotted eggs of five, four or three
They live on small insects that they find on the ground
And often sing out peewee whilst walking around
Mental pictures of them are not hard to retain
Once seen and once heard you will know them again
Often seen in the countryside and every town park
The birds known as mudlark or peewee as well as magpie lark.
