Age Does Not Bring With It

Age does not bring with it wisdom we have come to realize
Since everyone does grow older but few does grow wise
That wisdom happens to be a gift some believe to be true
And some young people are quite wise to give them their due
A truism from the past that remains relevant to today
No fool like an old fool  it does seem this way
I know a few wise people in their physical prime
That are possessed of wisdom way beyond their time
And i do know ageing people old blokes and old dears
Who are not even close to wise though advancing in years
That people grow wiser with age as a falsehood remain
And something one ought not to have to explain
I can speak for myself since i have come to realize
That though i am ageing i am far from wise.
