A Rainy April Day

Though the magpies are warbling on this grey Autumn day
The sun behind grey clouds is hidden away
The rain on the green countryside drizzling down
In the quiet of the evening by the rural town
But few with this sort of weather will complain
As the dry countryside is in need of this rain
The paddocks now green had been brown and dry for a spell
This much needed rain it has served the land well
So many have suffered in bushfires in the recent past
But rain it has brought relief with it at last
The rain drizzling down from a sky overcast
But in this Southern Land the weather known to change fast
The recent bushfires brought with them death and grief
But the rain to the land has brought welcome relief.
