The old ballad singer is showing his years in grey
He clearly has known of a far better day
But on Saturday evening the leader in song
In the local pub in the sing along
Though his voice not as good as it used to be
The words of many old songs live in his memory
Born to entertain and of any stage nerves free
He sings rather well for one of eighty three
His aged wife remains as his number one fan
In her eyes he is quite a wonderful man
They are great grandparents their descendants in numbers does grow
The old ballad singer and his wife every local does know
Though he is many years past his physical prime
He is one who refuse to surrender to time.
