It has been many years since i have lived in Millstreet
And walked in the fields to where the waterways meet
Or heard the dipper sing in the Claramore rill
Flowing in the fields of Claraghatlea in view of Clara's Hill
In Duhallow like many before me i was one who did not stay
The lure of the wander from there took me far away
To many in Millstreet i would be a stranger today
That time with it brings changes only true to say
My journey in life has brought me far south
Of the fields of the badger and waterways of the brown trout
To the home of the white long billed corella and grey kangaroo
And koala, echidna and yellow tailed black cockatoo
From the fields in view of Clara north and far away
To the warbling of the Australian magpies i wake every day.
