Grey Shrike Thrushes

Slightly brown on the back but overall mostly grey
In woodlands of old growth trees they mosly prefer to stay
Their whistling song to hear is quite a beautiful thing
And joy to the listener never fails to bring

Most of them of humans do not seem that shy
When you approach one it flies to a low branch nearby
The female lay white eggs with brown spots of four, two or three
In cup shaped nest of bark in hollow log or on leafy low branch of tree

They mostly live on small life forms they find on the ground
Never see them in flocks or in large numbers they never abound
Out of their breeding Season they mostly live on their own
Though as a species of shrike thrush to many well known

Once seen and once heard them you never again could get wrong
Though quite plain to look at they have a beautiful song
Which perhaps in Nature is their only claim to fame
Grey shrike thrushes for them is an often used name.
