Mrs K And Her Son James

The words of a wise woman i do recall
When she said pride is a thing that can come before a fall
She was not short on wisdom as i did realize
Though long deceased she was one who was wise

Of her son James Mrs K felt so proud
And of his achievements his praises sung loud
He was the manager of a big city bank
Of social standing he was one of high rank

But James used his position to profit by crime
And for his wrongdoing he is serving jail time
He stole money from the bank quite a large amount
And placed it in an overseas bank in a false name account

And worse for him he has become estranged from his two young daughters and his wife
Since the bank claimed their home and their assets and left them penniless in life
For James it is obvious that greed did not pay
He will be in prison for quite a long stay

His once proud mum does not boast of him today
In fact of him she does have nothing to say
From her former friends she has chosen to hide
She sold her town house and moved to the countryside

The words of the wise woman i do retain
Pride can come before a fall as a truism remain
One has to spare a thought for Mrs K
She does not talk of her son James today.
