A Survivor Of C O V I D-19

The ageing widower feeling fit and well
But he has a rather sad story to tell
C O V I D-19 has cost him the love of his life
Last week a local undertaker company buried his wife

Grandparents in their mid sixties they were married for forty years
Their enduring love of each other for him ended in tears
On fourteen days social isolation in his home on his own
On the saddest days of his life that of he has known

Not even allowed by decree of law to attend
The burial of the remains of his life's greatest friend
He only has memories of a love from him forever gone
But without her in his life he must keep living on

Never to walk with her in the parkland again
The good memories of her only with him to retain
The grief of her passing will live in him for many a day
He wonders why the virus ignored him and in the cemetery she does lay

Of much happier days in life of he surely has seen
He lives as a survivor of  C O V I D-19
The woman he loved the virus did not survive
Last week she was taken on her final drive.
