The Dark Rose Of Penshurst

In the Town in View of Mt Rouse one who did not stay
The dark Rose of Penshurst where is she today
From the Southern Grampians in distance far away
It is said she is married with children in the U S of A
Wavy dark hair to her shoulders and eyes of brown
Twenty years ago the young Rose of old Penshurst Town
One without conceit and lovely to behold
In Penshurst one not destined for to grow old
She left Penshurst at twenty close to her life's prime
Perhaps she would now be showing some wear of time
Though some of her family there do remain
Cannot say if she will visit Penshurst again
The young Rose of the Town two decades ago
But doubtless that time it has become her foe.
