In leafy groves near Ballydaly nesting birds singing today
And dark swallows above the old fields back home to breed from far away
On pursuit of flying insects are chirping as they fly
Long distance aerial speedsters these nomads of the sky
In Spring in Ballydaly such natural beauty to be seen
When Nature's flowers are abundant in old fields lush and green
And the contented cattle chewing their cuds do lay
Happy to be out on grass again from months of eating silage and hay
The dark brown water bird dipper of breast as white as snow
It's metallic song is echoing on rock where river rapids flow
In green old Ballydaly in the Spring of the year
The sights and sounds of Nature so nice to see and hear
A freshening breeze from the Boggeraghs above the old fields blow
Where cloaked from view in the rushes the shy cock pheasant crow.
